Author Diann Floyd Boehm's Next Children's Book Launches on International Literacy Day

Available on Amazon One of my OC Publishing authors, who splits her time between Houston and Dubai (where we met and became friends) is children’s book author, Diann Floyd Boehm. Diann will launch her fourth children’s picture book, Harry the Camel , on September 8, 2019, International Literacy Day. The book will simultaneously launch in both English and Arabic to honour the language of the main character’s country of origin. “I had been wanting to write a story about a camel for some time,” said Boehm. “While living in Dubai, I had visited local camel farms, experienced the highly regarded camel beauty contests and have even ridden many over the years. One day, inspiration just hit for the perfect story.”  The overarching theme of all of Diann's children’s stories is to embrace diversity and for children to accept themselves and others the way they are. Story synopsis: Harry the Camel will surely pull on the heart strings of readers as he pines for a lif

Interview with Montaha Hidefi, author of Groping for Truth - My Uphill Struggle for Respect

--> In December of 2018, I published a #metoo inspired memoir that re-caps the staggering story of sexual harassment and violence that the author, Montaha Hidefi, had endured throughout her life. The abuse began at the hands of her mother and then followed her around the globe from Venezuela, where she was born of Syrian immigrant parents, to Syria, where she lived as a teenager, then in adulthood in The United Arab Emirates, The Netherlands and Canada. We published on December 6, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. As spring finally arrives, bringing with it new beginnings and fresh starts, I thought it was timely to share the full interview the author did leading up to the launch of her book. Why did you decide to write about your past experiences? I was inspired by the #metoo movement and all the women that came forward and spoke in public about their experiences. My husband was paramount with the support he provided.

It's the 102 nd anniversary of the transfer in 1917 of Saint Croix from Danish to American rule. If you read Gidley’s first novel, Fireburn , and want to know what is going on in the lives of the characters you came to love, Transfer continues the story of those living at Anna’s Fancy. Reviewers love it! “Apple Gidley’s striking new novel captivates from its very first page,” said Jack Scott, author, Perking the Pansies . “This is a   deft and well-crafted plot, effortlessly weaving its way through the politically-charged uncertainty of the Danish West Indies and presenting us with such authentic and credible characters that the overall effect is seductive.” Gidley, an Anglo-Australian author who divides her time between Houston, Texas and Saint Croix, USVI, has revelled in the cultures of the twel
